Meet Romy

Louis and i have spoken about getting a dog since we moved in to our house, however it took along time to decide on what breed would fit in to our lifestyle... and home

We knew our house was not big enough for a large breed however Louis didnt want a small dog, so after some research Louis mentioned a Beagle, a breed i knew nothing about but seemed like a good choice and after some investigating we discovered a few people locally that had Beagles and all said how lovely tempered they are but also how greedy they can be and that they are prone to following their nose to where ever it may take them which includes over walls, under fences anywhere.

As we were having so much work done on the house and had a lot going on the dog plan had to go on the back burner plus we really wanted to make sure we were prepared as we could be to welcome a new addition so months and months went by and then one weekend we went to the Dogs Trust, after a wonder around we saw a Beagle there and we both gravitated to him.. unfortunatley we were not the right owners for him but it set in stone then that was the breed we wanted; Louis put gates up and we did some more research and found a litter near by but the day before we were due to go see them (and potentially bring one home as they were 10 weeks old) i started to have doubts.. the breeder hadnt had them vaccinated, which i know is not complusory however they were at the age they should have been having their second lot of injections, and the more i looked at the pictures of them something just didnt feel right they didnt look how i would perceive Beagles to look so i said to Louis i wasnt sure and i could tell he was dissapointed as he wanted to bring a puppy home that week, but i knew i couldnt rush in to the wrong decision....

Looking back it was completely the right decision, and after asking the people we knew with Beagles they said that the puppies looked like either a cross breed or from a over bred mum which can result in illness which we wouldnt have known about until we took them for their jabs (or even later on in life), so i looked around and found a litter 2 hours away from us and when i saw the pictures i had a inkling this was the right litter for us, i messaged the breeder who was lovely and so helpful and she sent me pictures of her girl pups and the 3rd one was ours i just knew it, i sent Louis a picture and he rang and put a deposit down then and there for her and we travelled to get her the next day.

We got to the house and we could see where she was sleeping and we watched her play with her brothers (she was very much the boss) she came up and gave us kisses but also tried stealing our shoes, she was beautiful with an air of confidence and bags of energy, she came from a home that had a working farm so she had been weaned from her mum as her mum slept in the barns with the other dogs (which is obviously not the right environment for a litter of hyper puppies), we met the mum who was lovely tempered so we were so excited to take our new little lady home.

She did amazing on the trip home she cried for a little bit and then settled and was perfect all the way, she came home and just slotted straight in to our house and her new environment; the fun part was name picking we had taken a while to settle on a name it was between Nala, Indie or Romy but we wanted a name that rang true with her breed so Romy who loves to roam was perfect (and that i had loved the name anyway for years), so say Hi to Romy our newest craziest addition
